Principles of Safety and Occupational Health Training
To become an occupational health and safety professional you must have educational qualifications and experience. You also must pass certain written examinations. All occupational health and safety specialists and technicians must go through on the job and classroom training, to learn about the relevant laws and inspection procedures.
The federal government and some other employers require that you have a 4-year college degree in safety, or some allied subject, to be eligible for some specialist positions. To apply for some positions, it is also necessary to have relevant working experience. To be successful in this field, it is essential to be aware of the principles of safety and occupational health training.
Certification
Certification is available through the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCIP). The Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH) credentials are offered by the ABIH. The Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential is offered by the BCIP. Certification is voluntary, though many employers encourage it.
The Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists is a joint effort between the ABIH and BCIP. It awards the Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) credential. For certification, you must first meet the qualification and experience requirements and then write an examination.
Being Up To Date
Health and safety training services aim to keep you informed about the latest changes in workplace safety, risk assessment and management, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, laboratory design etc. Nuclear safety, radiation waste management, radiation protection and environmental management are also covered. The principles of safety and occupational health training need to be followed for the training programs to be effective.
Getting a Buy-In
As per the principles of safety and occupational health training, before starting a workplace health and safety training program it is better to do a survey to identify the underlying concerns of the employees to get clarity and to get a buy-in from employees of all levels.
Employee Health and Safety
Employee health and safety training programs are initiated with the objective of making employees take responsibility for their own health. This can be done through programs for enhanced fitness, weight control, better nutrition and stress management. Programs for giving up smoking, better use of medical services and control of chronic illnesses are also organized.
These programs can make employees feel that the employer cares for their well-being. They can reduce absenteeism, lower health care costs and make employees more fit to work. Professional counseling can help employees to deal with issues like substance abuse and family problems. This is as per the principles of safety and occupational health training.
Organic Candy – Consumer and Environmental Health
In response to elevated buyer awareness, candy bar manufacturers are focusing on environmental sustainability issues reflecting changes in bean to bar processing practices. Many are developing increasingly successful fair trade, organic and environmentally responsible product lines. These product marketing campaigns involve not only promoting consumer health, but the health of the environment as well.
Good taste has become synonymous with good works for companies like Green & Black, Equal Exchange, Champlain Chocolate, Pure Fun, Yummy Earth and Newman’s Own. Experts note that these organic candy industry leaders are changing the image of healthy eating with better ingredients and tastier products. Higher percentages of chocolate, exotic fruits and fancy grade inclusions are expanding the market beyond simple candy bars.
Green & Black has 12 varieties in its line, Endangered Species recently debuted 5 more premium level bars to their repertoire, Champlain added truffles, Yummy Earth is launching Gummi Bears and Pure Fun is laying claim to the first ever organic candy canes just in time for the holidays. One might think with all this variety flooding the wholesale candy stores, there could not possibly be money to be made, but they are wrong. In fact, the organic food industry as a whole is booming.
According to the Organic Trade Association, in 2007, wholesale candy and snack purchases in this niche reached $1 billion. Sources at Equal Exchange say they started 2009 with a 12% gain. Sales at Endangered Species are up 121% this year. Some complain that higher prices make it tough to actually gauge whether this positive trend will continue, but the promise of big bucks is not the only benefit.
Fair Trade candy like the kind Equal Exchange makes, allows local farmers to reap some of that benefit by making a fair portion of the profits on each sale. Hillside’s Go Naturally candy is a NJ based organic brand that also promotes green living. Many consumers support environmental causes that support indigenous cultures, or locally-made products, having this manufacturing philosophy results in stronger loyalty and better sales. And although consumers find organic candy is generally more expensive than conventional, a good number believe the benefits are worth it.
Analysts agree that advertising and packaging play an important role in educating consumers about the issues. Increasingly, customers are interested in learning how their candy gets made and not just how it tastes. Candy stores that keep these desires in mind will not only do well fiscally, but present a healthy candy agenda on the forefront of the industry–one candy bar at a time.
Body Building
Body building is one of the many ways on how to sculpt or modify your body by transforming the fats in your body into large muscles. Building muscle is achieved through comprehensive muscle hypertrophy, or the scientific term that means the boost of muscle cells. There are a lot of ways to build your muscles; probably one of the most common and effective forms of body building is weight training. Weight training is one of the ways to improve the size and strength of the skeletal muscles by using assorted kinds of gym equipments such as barbells, weight machines, and dumbbells among others.
Building muscles can also be achieved with different forms of weight training exercises which do not require you to use equipment such as press-ups and pull-ups in which you do not need to carry weights; but body building can also be a combination of both weight training exercises and the weight training machines and equipments. Weight training is also a favorite regimen among athletes and enthusiasts of weight lifting, which is another type of sport that needs more built muscles to successfully carry barbells that are loaded with heavy weight plates.
Body builders can also choose to hire personal trainers, who would guide you to regulate your weight training routines, monitor your balanced diet, and help you achieve the desired size and strength of your muscles. For you to be able to continuously do your body building routines, you must have sufficient amount of protein in your body. Most body builders usually intake protein shakes and food items rich in whey protein. Whey protein is beneficial for your health because it helps in repairing and rebuilding muscle tissues. It is most commonly taken after workouts because it surges up the number of amino acids in the blood, which are ultimately transformed into massive muscles.
